Union-Brown Game Previews

Kyle Bodie was featured in the Times-Union as well as the Daily Gazette.
While its tough to point to trends for an opponent that has only played four games, here are a couple things to watch for when the Dutchmen take on Brown tonight at Messa Rink.
-Brown is not afraid of the penalty box. The Bears racked up 530 penalty minutes last season (just over 17 a game), and were the second most penalized team in ECAC Hockey. They have continued that trend through first four games this season, averaging just under 15 penalty minutes a game. Union’s power play (second in the nation at 31.1%) will have opportunities tonight.
-Brown is a gritty team. In their last contest against Cornell, Brown blew a two goal lead, then rallied from two one-goal deficits to earn a 5-4 win, holding Cornell to just 20 shots in the contest. That followed another wild game against Colgate with three lead changes, ending when the Raiders got a short-handed goal late in the third period from Austin Smith, followed by an empty netter to earn a 5-3 win. While Union in unbeaten in their last five against the Bears, this is a team that has always been a tough out for the Dutchmen.
