Ken Schott documented some travel issues (click here), but all-in-all, it was not too bad yesterday. Most of the team arrived in Minneapolis in the early evening hours, early enough to get a short skate in at Mariucci Arena.

Behind the Bench with Coach Barr: Hockey in...
Assistant Coach Ben Barr, a native of Duluth, Minnesota, reflects on the meaning of hockey in his home state, and upcoming games against Minnesota and Bemidji State.
In Minnesota, the Gophers are comparable to the New York Yankees. Every game is on TV and they have a weekly “Inside Gopher Hockey” show. I would say that 99% of all the players that grow up playing hockey in Minnesota...

With scheduling, we don’t have much imput on the schedule as it is usually made a few years in advance. I know Nate is always trying to schedule as many quality opponents as possible, but he also wants to make sure we get a fair share of home games. I think it is tough at times to get teams to come to our rink from the WCHA, CCHA, and even Hockey East. Travel has been tough this year to...

ECAC as tough as its ever been
After a weekend split at Brown and (newly crowned) No. 1 Yale, Union maintained its No. 13 ranking in both the USCHO.com and USA Today Polls. In talking with Union SID Eric McDowell, we both agreed that this another sign of how the program has progressed, as well as the national respect for ECAC Hockey this season.
Overall, the ECAC is 22-19-10 in non-conference games this season (excluding...

Behind the Bench with Coach Barr: Getting Back to...
There are some of the challenges in returning to the schedule after a long layoff. I think its important for us to make sure we have the right energy, and to make sure we are in game shape. We haven’t played a game in nearly three weeks. That’s what Coach Leaman has been trying to balance the last couple weeks. With finals and a one-week break, and Rick and I being on the road quite...
