We witnessed a wild one last night in the first game of the UConn Tourney. Unfortunately, Union came out on the losing end, but as Nate Leaman commented the team will use it as a learning experience. The Dutchmen will look to rebound today against UConn at 4:05 p.m.

Morning Skate & Morning Thoughts
As I type, the Dutchmen are taking the ice for their first pre-game skate since the Dec. 11 contest against the U-18 team. That game didn’t count towards the overall record, but tonight’s outing will. It will also be the first against a ranked opponent — UMass is 15th — since Union cracked the ranking in the first week of December.
What can we expect tonight? Hopefully...

Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. We took some time off, but now the Dutchmen are back and action on Tuesday. As the games go, so go the blogs. We’ll be getting back in giving you the inside scoop on the team shortly.

Some time to think about things
I was once told that not much work gets done after the first week of December. The only thing that Union did after that first week was beat RPI in its own building and then knock off the U-18 team. Not a bad work ethic when everyone else is dreaming of hot cocoa and snowmen. I kid.

When I woke up this morning I had a smile on my face. The image of Mike Schreiber finding the upper-left corner was still marinating in my head. He found the same corner that Mario Valery-Trabucco found on back-to-back shifts in the third period to give him Union’s first hat trick in three-plus seasons.

Three Big Things from Monday
Well the Dutchmen are ranked for the first time in nine years. Mario Valery-Trabucco and Keith Kinkaid were both honored by ECAC Hockey. AND Union Hockey announced its “Shots for Tots” even this coming Friday.

Game Day Media Clips
Almost a month has gone by since there has been a men’s hockey game at Messa Rink. That hiatus comes to an end tonight as Colgate arrives for a 7 p.m. contest. Coming off the RPI Holiday Tournament win, the Dutchmen also return to ECAC Hockey play against the second- and third-place teams in the league (#7 Cornell 2nd and Colgate 3rd).

Hoping for a December like November
With a 3-0-3 record, the Dutchmen enjoyed one of its most successful Novembers of all-time. The team went undefeated in November for the second time (2000: 4-0-1) in program history. The team, which swept the North Country and won the RPI Tournament, outscored opponents 20-14.
